New to ResaleAI? Here are the words and phrases you will run into most often, in plain language. Bookmark this page and come back any time something is not clear.
ResaleAI (RAI)
The program your store uses to check in buys, text customers, manage backstock, track goals, and more. You will sometimes see it shortened to "RAI."
DRS
The point-of-sale system your store already uses to ring up sales and record buys. ResaleAI works alongside DRS. When you check in a buy in ResaleAI, it is created in DRS for you, so you do not have to enter it twice. Learn more in How to link DRS Initials in ResaleAI.
Buy
When a customer brings in items to sell to your store, that is a "buy." Checking in a buy is the process of signing the customer in, taking their items, and starting the sort. See How do I check in a buy?
Sign to Sell
The digital sign-in process for a buy. The customer signs your buy policy on their phone (or on a printed slip) instead of filling out paper by hand. See I have never used Sign to Sell before.
Sorter
The team member assigned to go through a customer's items and decide what to take and what to pass. See How do I select a sorter?
Pass / Take reasons
Quick labels your sorters pick to record why an item was kept ("take") or returned ("pass"), such as condition or season. See How to manage my default "pass" "take" reasons.
Quoted time
Your estimate of when a buy will be ready. It sets the order buys appear in on the Open page and powers the color coding (a buy turns red if it is at risk of being late).
Buy states: Pending, Open, Complete, Closed
A buy moves through stages. Pending means it was started but not finished checking in. Open means it is checked in and waiting to be sorted. Complete means sorting is done and the customer can be paid out. Closed means the buy has been cashed out or voided, and is no longer in DRS.
Backstock
Your behind-the-scenes inventory: items you have bought but are storing until you put them on the floor. ResaleAI helps you organize it by category, location, and bin. See I'm getting started with backstock, where do I begin?
Bin
A labeled spot (a tub, shelf, or rack) where backstock items live so you can find them again. See How do I add more bin numbers for backstock.
Bounceback
A coupon or incentive you give customers to bring them back into the store. See What is a bounceback? for the full explainer.
Daybook
Your home screen in ResaleAI. It shows your goals, notes, tasks, and team schedule for the day. See the Daybook tour for the full walkthrough.
Goals
The daily and monthly sales targets you set for your store and team. See How to set Sales Goals.
Magic Goals
Goals that ResaleAI sets for you automatically using your past DRS sales history. Note: brand-new stores without sales history in DRS yet cannot use Magic Goals, so you will set goals manually at first. See Magic goals: Setting and reviewing goals.
KPIs (Key Performance Indicators)
Live numbers about your day, like sales so far and how you compare to a past period. See What is the comparison date for today's goals?
Day Close
The end-of-day summary from DRS. ResaleAI can email it to you and your managers automatically each night. See How can I get an automatic nightly Day Close email?
PIN
The short code each team member uses to sign in to ResaleAI at the POS. See How do employee pin codes work.
Remote access
Lets employees log in to ResaleAI from outside the store, such as a laptop or phone. See What is remote access?
Loyalty Assist (Fivestars)
An integration that automatically gives customers loyalty points. See Loyalty Assist Fivestars Integration: Overview.
Bookkeeping Assist (QuickBooks)
An integration that sends your store's sales data into QuickBooks Online so your books stay current. See Integrate Quickbooks with ResaleAI.
