How to update ResaleAI at a POS computer
Modified on Tue, Dec 10 at 2:59 PM
Do I need to update?
- Open the main ResaleAI app at each POS computer
- Look in the very top left corner (along the top bar of the app) to see the version number of ResaleAI
- The version number should begin with 24
- If you do not see v.24.1 then you need to update to the newest version of ResaleAI
- Check each POS computer, as each computer may have a different version installed
How to update
Option 1 - Automatic prompt
- First, check whether you are signed on to the POS computer with the owner or administrator login. You may need to log off the POS computer and log back on with the owner account, or you will not be able to install software.
- Open the main ResaleAI app, and it should pop-up asking if you would like to update
- Click "Yes" to install the update, and follow the prompts to complete installation
- If it doesn't pop up automatically, move to the next option below
Option 2 - Check for updates
- First, check whether you are signed on to the POS computer with the owner or administrator login. You may need to log off the POS computer and log back on with the owner account, or you will not be able to install software.
- Click the Windows "Start" button
- Look in the list of all programs for ResaleAI
- Click "Check for Updates" within the ResaleAI folder
(left: Windows 10 / right: Windows 7)
- It should pop up asking you to update if needed
- Click "Yes" to install the update, and follow the prompts to complete installation
- If you have trouble or this doesn't work, move to the next option below
Option 3 - Directly install
- First, check whether you are signed on to the POS computer with the owner or administrator login. You may need to log off the POS computer and log back on with the owner account, or you will not be able to install software.
- Open a browser like Chrome, and go to resaleai.com/install
- Click Download to download the latest version of ResaleAI, and wait for the file to download
- Once the file has downloaded, click to run the installer
- Follow the steps in the installer to complete the installation

Troubleshooting
1) Asks for username/password
- If you get a popup before you install asking for a username and password, log off the POS computer and log back on to the POS with the owner account
- This username/password is not related to ResaleAI, it is the Windows administrator account. You have to sign on with that account to have access to update or install any software. If you do not know the owner/administrator login to the POS computer, contact Winmark support and they can help!
- After you log on with the owner account, try updating again, and it should no longer ask for that username/password
2) Windows 10 warning
- Click "More info", then click "Run anyway"
3) Symantec Warning
- Click "Allow this file", then "OK"
Using the newer version of ResaleAI
- When you launch ResaleAI, it will load the newer mode by default. If you haven't seen it before, check out this article for an overview of what you need to know
Note: Newer versions of ResaleAI are not compatible with Windows XP computers.
- If you have a POS computer using Windows XP, you cannot update to newer versions of ResaleAI until the computer has been updated or replaced (not sure what version you have? Check here!)
- The highest version of ResaleAI that you can use on Windows XP is version 2.5.5
